Live Like a Local Adventure
Revel in the beauty of Kawela Bay and discover what makes this secluded region such a treasured spot for locals and visitors alike. Come along with us on our Live Like a Local Adventure, and let us show you the island way of life beginning with an introduction to Hawaiian culture, followed by an “island-style off-road” excursion to the unique crescent-shaped protected bay. Upon arrival at Kawela Bay, we explore the famed Banyan Tree, a single tree with an amazing expanse of multiple trunks and vines, making it a coveted backdrop for many TV and film productions. Then, at the beach, our Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe known as Ulu Nene awaits to take us on a green sea turtle tour (guests will remain on-board for this portion of the adventure). We return to the beach just as the sun dips towards the horizon to get ready for a beachside introductory ukulele lesson, where guests will learn the basic chords and strums on this iconic Hawaiian instrument. As darkness falls, portable lighting will be made available for a catch-and-release sand crab hunt, where crabs will be humanely handled and kept in buckets for observation only, then released back into the ocean unharmed. At 6:30 p.m., the group will be transported back to the main hotel in the NSOG surf truck for an “island-style trail ride”, arriving in the lobby promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Our Live Like a Local Adventure is best suited for guests ages 7 - 17; parents are welcome to drop participants off with us or to tag along in their own vehicle to witness the fun! This adventure is offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday (3:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
